Dr Iakovina Koutoufa

BSc Hons, MSc, DClinPsy, CPsychol

I am a chartered clinical psychologist with over 10 years of clinical experience in the NHS, in the private, and in the charitable sectors to date. Whilst led by the evidence base, my guiding principle is the development of an authentic, trustworthy, and compassionate relationship. I strongly believe in people’s resilience and ability to overcome their difficulties through the exploration of their unique strengths and abilities in a safe and containing therapeutic space.

Since starting my career in the NHS in 2012, I have worked with adults and children with a variety of difficulties in a range of settings including eating disorders, weight management and bariatrics, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, health anxiety, psychosis, and chronic pain amongst others.

My approach is informed by a variety of psychotherapeutic models. I am an accredited Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and I have trained in Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Narrative Therapy. I also have experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Systemic Therapy. In my work, I tend to draw from a range of approaches to tailor the therapy space to your needs and goals. I am committed to continuing my professional development and learn about the latest developments in health and psychological therapy.

I grew up in Athens, Greece and I moved to London in 2010 to complete my undergraduate and master’s degree in University College London (UCL). In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, spending time with my much-loved dog Benny, and windsurfing.

I can offer therapy both in English and Greek.
